Hopkins makes history on the court

Congratulations to Ray-Pec High School Senior Travis Hopkins for his performance at the Class 2 State Tennis Tournament May 24-25 in Springfield. Travis went 2-2 in the Singles Tournament, placing seventh, which was the highest finish for Class 2 singles entrants from the Kansas City area. Travis was the first player in Ray-Pec history to qualify for the state tournament.
Travis was named to the First Team, All-Conference Singles, for the Suburban Kansas City Gold Division after going compiling a record of 5-0 in dual matches this season. Travis was also selected as Most Outstanding Team Member and Most Inspirational at the May 22 banquet of the Ray-Pec men’s tennis team. Also at the banquet, these other awards were announced: Newcomer – Brandon Dickerson; and Most Improved – David Barberis.
