Eighty-eight motorcycle riders attended the 11th annual Healthy Angels Ride Aug. 15 to raise money for Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation’s Patient Assistance Fund, which helps disadvantaged Cass Regional Medical Center patients with resources such as medications, home care supplies and transportation after they are discharged from the hospital.
The motorcycle ride consisted of 59 bikes. They began at Cass Regional and made three stops at Pleasant Hill, Garden City and Drexel Medical Clinics before returning to the hospital campus for a lunch, music performance by two-time “American Idol” contestant Joe Dahman and giveaway of door prizes.
Through registrations, the silent auction and free-will donations, $3,500 in net proceeds was gathered for the Patient Assistance Fund.
“Recently, we were able to purchase a bariatric wheelchair for a patient in a nursing home and we also provided a patient with special hose and dressing supplies to help prevent blood clots,” case manager Dana Worley, RN, BSN, said. “These were all funded through the Patient Assistance Fund.”
Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation will host its next event, the Grin & Bear It 5K and Family Fun Run, at 8 a.m. Sept. 26. Visit “Grin & Bear It Run” on Facebook or www.GrinAndBearItRun.com to sign up and learn more.
