Calling him a “clown, genius, edgelord, visionary, industrialist, showman,” Time magazine has named Tesla CEO Elon Musk as its Person of the Year for 2021.
Musk, who is also the founder and CEO space exploration company SpaceX, recently passed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as the world’s wealthiest person as the rising price of Tesla pushed his net worth to around $300 billion. He owns about 17% of Tesla’s stock, which sold for almost $1,000 each on Monday.

Attorneys in the Boy Scouts of America bankruptcy case have reached a tentative settlement under which one of the organization’s largest insurers would contribute $800 million into a fund for victims of child sexual abuse.

The Associated Press sought answers Monday from the Department of Homeland Security on its use of sensitive government databases for tracking international terrorists to investigate as many as 20 American journalists, including an acclaimed AP reporter.

Cass County hits record-high property tax disbursement

Property tax season began in November, and the numbers already suggest that Cass County’s economy is thriving.
For the month of November, Cass County distributed nearly $36.5 million in property tax revenue. According to Cass County Collector Chris Molendorp, that is the largest November property tax disbursement in county history.
Raymore received nearly $1.3 million, second only to Belton’s $1.7 million portion and followed by more than $360,000 to Pleasant Hill. Peculiar took in more than $280,000.

Harrisonville boys’ soccer qualifies for Class 2 state
While most of the 2021 fall sports seasons are complete, the Harrisonville Wildcat boys’ soccer team is still alive and playing after the Wildcats won the Class 2, District 7 championship past week and advanced to the Missouri High School Activites Association’s Class 2 state tournament.
