After a decade of serving Raymore, police Chief Jan Zimmerman will retire later this year, setting the stage for the city’s search for a new police chief.
City Manager Jim Feuerborn recently announced that Raymore is setting the wheels in motion to find a new chief of police for Raymore. Jan Zimmerman, Raymore’s current chief of police, announced earlier that she will be retiring from the department in August.

Raymore man faces manslaughter charges in connection to mother’s death

A Raymore man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of his mother that occurred three years ago.
Norman Richey, 61, of Raymore is being charged with one count of second-degree involuntary manslaughter in connection to the death of his mother, Ruth Richey. In March 2019, emergency crews were dispatched to Ms. Ruth’s home on Poseidon Way in reference to an elderly abuse investigation.

The day started chilly but warmed up once the rubber of more than a hundred bicycle tires hit the pavement at Dave’s Bike Shop for the third annual Crankin’ Into Spring community bike ride and event.
On the morning of Saturday, April 9, dozens of cyclists embarked on a 13-, 27- or 63-mile journey through north Cass County. Friday Food Fest on March 25 was a success. The cold weather throughout the week warmed up enough for adults, children, and fur babies to enjoy an evening at Recreation Park enjoying great food and live music performed by Luke Hupp. Food vendors include Chick-fil-A, Bubba’s Hobbytime Grill, Jack’s Old Fashioned Kettle Corn, The Jiggy Pig and Shivers Ice House.
