28th Annual 5K for Health dental clinic fundraiser sets record

Back to pre-pandemic conditions, the Cass Community Health Foundation’s annual 5K for Health raised the most money for the Cass County Dental Clinic in its 28 years in existence.
Hundreds of people gathered at Southwick Stadium in Belton to participate in the 28th Annual 5K for Health. With more participants, vendors and sponsors compared to previous years, this year’s fundraiser brought in a record $83,000, far exceeding the goal of $75,000.

The Belton Police Department has arrested a person of interest regarding a stabbing that occurred on Monday.At about 8 a.m. on Monday, April 25, Belton police received a call about a stabbing victim located at a convenience store near 163rd and Cornerstone Drive. In just 24 hours, thousands of dollars were raised for the Raymore-Peculiar School District and dozens of high school students were recognized for their excellence in a meaningful display of support for education by the community.

Workers required to get vaccinations for their jobs could sue if they have negative reactions under a Missouri bill advanced in the state House on Wednesday.
The Republican-led House voted 92-44 to give the measure initial approval. It needs another vote to move to the GOP-led Senate.

Missouri’s Republican-led House passed a bill Thursday that would give rebates of up to $1,000 for state income taxes owed this year.
Lawmakers voted 103-44 to send the nonrefundable tax credit legislation to the GOP-led Senate, where Republican Majority Leader Caleb Rowden said it faces an uncertain path forward.
